On 4 December, Dr Arráez led and delivered, together with other professionals, the Refresher Course on Lumbar Spine Pathology, held at Málaga Official College of Doctors.
The panel of speakers was simply exceptional, giving the course a top-level character in areas such as lumbar pathophysiology and disc herniation, diagnosis and clinical approach, radiological and neurophysiological techniques, and current surgical treatments. Speakers included Drs Ángel Horcajadas, Rafael Ramos de la Rosa, Victoria Fernández, Sebastián Trujillo, Carlos Aldaya, Jorge Linares, Cinta Arráez and Antonio Selfa.
Lumbar spine pathology represents a significant health problem with major repercussions in the workplace and social spheres, frequently requiring surgical intervention. It is the most common cause of work-related activity limitation in people over the age of 40, second only to the common cold. Its socio-health implications are clear.
This activity, aimed at general practitioners, specialists in traumatology, rehabilitation, physiotherapy and pain management, had as its main objectives the acquisition of knowledge on lumbar pathophysiology and disc herniation, appropriate diagnosis and clinical approach, suitable radiological and neurophysiological diagnostic techniques, and current surgical treatment techniques for degenerative lumbar spine pathology.
