The Merco awards annually recognise leadership of services and hospitals across the country. In the 2025 edition, the neurosurgery department of the Hospital Regional Universitario Carlos Haya, headed by Dr. Miguel Ángel Arraez, achieved first place in Andalusia and third place nationwide.
Dr. Arraez received the award at a large‑scale ceremony held at the Hospital Reina Sofía in Córdoba on 30 September 2025.
